I am definitely not familiar with being interviewed. I am in my comfort zone when I'm dreaming big dreams, creating visions of a better world, working quietly behind the scenes to create something new that touches, inspires and connects people...
Being interviewed by a prestigious publication in the Australian arts scene like Byron Arts Magazine?
Ummm... a little out of the comfort zone.
But when I got rolling, I realised all I wanted to do was share how excited I am by watching Art of Kindness come to life, how grateful I am to the beautiful artists who have supported my vision by contributing their work to build our gallery from scratch, and how hopeful I am that we've got something here that will, over time, make a real impact on a big scale.
I was blown away to see my excited gush of words about Art of Kindness appear as a double page spread in the latest edition of BAM! We may be a new initiative, and we're starting out as a small bunch of people with a big shared vision for change... but with coverage like this on the national scene, we are gathering momentum!
BAM is available in newsagents across Australia, as well as in select galleries, boutiques, book stores and luxury accommodation in Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and internationally.
Local Byron Bay artist Trish Tait was the perfect person to feature in the article, as a well respected local artist and a genuinely wonderful, generous soul who has been an avid supporter of AoK from the earliest days. I hope you'll check out the article below and share it with your friends to help spread the word (and the love).
What follows is the story as it appeared in BAM:
Art of Kindness is a collective of caring artists and makers of all ages, sharing original work to change lives. 100% of profits go to charity.
The Art of Kindness online gallery went live at Christmas last year, so we are a really new initiative. But we are already seeing so much support, interest and excitement about what we are doing. Wonderful art and handcrafted pieces are starting to flow in from generous artists all over Australia — it’s incredibly exciting to watch this big dream of mine coming to life!
Art of Kindness is home to artists and makers of all ages, at all levels of experience, using any media and materials … But the one thing that connects us all is a shared intention to harness the power of creativity and collaboration to make a real difference in the real world. These big-hearted artists are really blowing me away with their talent and generosity of spirit. None of this would be possible without their willingness to share their precious original works with us.
Art of Kindness is our creative, collaborative, inclusive response to difficult and divisive times. Success for Art of Kindness is measured not only in the funds we raise for our Charity Partners but also in every moment of real connection we facilitate between the artists, buyers and charities we support. There are touching and powerful stories behind every piece we showcase in our gallery, every sale made to a caring buyer, and every donation to an essential cause.
We are excited to build Art of Kindness so that it comes to represent Australian artists of all kinds from all walks of life. It’s incredible to watch the online gallery evolving into a vibrant array of diverse styles and voices. We are now putting the call out to Australian artists and makers everywhere to share their work and help us grow! We’re also excited to throw open the doors to art buyers and spread the word that Art of Kindness is the place to go for quality original artworks ... Our point of difference is that 100% of the profits go to the Charity Partners chosen by the artist and the buyer. It’s a truly heartwarming experience of connection and contribution ... not just a purchase!
Another exciting new venture we’re exploring is Art of Kindness Kids & Teens: we hope to connect with kids and teens, inspire and encourage their budding talent, share their amazing original works in our non-judging, non-competitive gallery, and give them the direct experience of empowerment that comes from seeing the difference they can make by reaching out, getting involved and sharing their gifts with the world. We are proud to inspire and galvanise the next generation of creative change-makers.
We’re so excited to include the exquisite work of Trish Tait, an accomplished local Byron Bay artist, in the Art of Kindness gallery!
“Thank you, Art of Kindness, for the amazing opportunity to support a cause I’m passionate about with my art! I chose Lifeline as my Charity Partner, as I believe this is a vital service, particularly for our young, as we endure such unprecedented times with COVID.” — Trish Tait
OUR CHARITY PARTNERS
Our Charity Partners are real warriors, out on the frontlines of change, working hard to make the world safer and fairer for us all. By selecting from our diverse list of Charity Partners, the artist and buyer each decide where half the profits from a sale will be donated.
“We are so grateful to be a beneficiary charity of Art of Kindness. This is such a wonderful initiative that, through the inspiration and talent of artists to make available their beautiful art for the enjoyment of the customer, delivers hope for important causes.” — Michael Hornby, CEO of The Common Good.
