Marie Marcel

Born in the island of Mauritius, Marie left an Art Teaching career to move to Australia in 1983. Putting her art aside while her three children were growing up, she rediscovered painting only ten years ago.

Marie has a very meaningful motivation for the choosing the Leukaemia Foundation as her Charity Partner:

"I have experienced the journey of having a kid diagnosed with this dreadful disease. It hasn't been easy, but by the grace of God he survived and is now 31 yrs old."

"I followed some classes with the artist Peter Gonzalez at a community centre, where I took part in the Artwest exhibition and my first painting was sold. Painting is for me like an escape from the daily routine of life – it relaxes me, takes me to a quiet place and make me happy." – Marie
